Fabulous Free Friday Giveaway!

Lola and I love our machines. We love them so much they are like a part of the family, thus we named them long ago. Lola, has a Bernina named Bessie Higginbottom and a BabyLock serger named Francis (because no one puts baby in the corner right?). I have a Bernina named Ethel and a BabyLock serger named James (Sweet Baby James). So, the question is....

What is your machine's name and how did you come up with it? We'll be giving away three one yard cuts of our favorite fabrics!

I had the sweetest mother in law in all the land. She could make anything from knitting to tatting and of course any old thing on the sewing machine. She tried to share her talents with me, but at the time I wasn't interested, I was raising a young family. She passed away several years ago and gave her sewing machine to my daughter. Now I have the sewing addiction and cannot share it with her personally, she loved fabric and so do I, so now when I finish something, I hold it up so that she can see it, I know she is proud of me, just a few years too late!! So my new Bernina is named Grandma Reba, after my mentor and loving mother in law.

My sewing machine (it's just a Bernette because I am still learning, and I think straight lines are the BEST) is named Honey because when my live "Honey" is working late (and the little "honeys" go to bed), my machine becomes my "Honey" and I get to have fun creating things!! I love fabric, the look, the feel, everything about it. And watching it go from a flat piece of nothing to something I've made is an amazing and wonderful feeling process! My "Honey" helps me make this happen :)!

I named mine "Pretty". She is a bernina. I love her to pieces. I named her pretty because she helps me create all things pretty.

My Janome was a Christmas gift from my Mother-in-Law a few years ago. I've actually never named her....Let's call her Jane. I love American Jane fabric and a Janome named Jane sounds good. :)

I've started sewing again, when I can find time or a clean area to get it done. My fabric is growing and calls out my name daily, but life gets in the way along with other things. My machine was given to me by my loving husband for Christmas and even though it wasn't the most expense or the best on the market it works just right for now. My machine goes be the name Herman, my husband gets a kick when I let him know I am going to see Herman for awhild and don't interrupt us!

My sewing machine is so crappy it doesn't deserve a name. At least a name I could write on this blog. Now my quilt machine on the other hand....I will come up wiht a name for her soon.

Ok so I never thought of naming my machine but... I guess I could name him "my boyfriend" because it is my "starter" machine and hopefully one day I will find (or afford) "the one" and when I do I will name it "tinker" cause that's all I have time to do on it!

My Mom and I bought Bernina's together a few years ago. We took all the classes together to get familiar with our new machines. My Mom named her's "Nina" and decided mine should be named "Bernie." The names stuck ... three years later, we are one big happy family!

Interesting that Bernina people have sweet names for their machines. My Pfaff I named Scarlett because she is very tempermental. Some days she is happy and fun and other days she is too tense. She has tension issues.

I haven't actually named my sewing machine. It's a pretty basic brother, but it's worked well for me, and since sewing to me is like therapy, I'd probably have to name it Dr. B! As in I'm going to see Dr. B now.

I have a simple little brother that is mostly named "awesome" but sometime named "what-the-crap?" :)

My HQ is named Fred...I have no idea why--

I've always called my machine "little bro". I guess 'cause it's a Brother! I don't know!

My husband give me my machine for Christmas a few years back. I never have thought to give it a name. but if I was to (since it is a kenmore), I give it the name Kendall. Ya I like that name. But when my ship comes in I'm going to have a Bernie.

My little Bernina is ruby red, because the case she comes in is red. She is my best friend. She never leaves the kitchen table. We eat dinner with her in her assigned seat at the other end of the table. She is after all part of the family.

I named my Pfaff Betty. She is a sweet simple and reliable friend who I go to when I need my therapy. She is always there, daily: ready and willing to listen. The sound she makes has been conforting like when my twins left home and I made quilts for them.

So I've been thinking about what I call my sewing machines. One I call old reliable because she keeps going and going. The other one is oh no not again. I guess that's why I have 2 in case oh no not again breaks AGAIN!

I have a Singer slant-o-matic 500! I like to call her Old Faithful. She was an inheritance from my Great Aunt Ebby, and with a little oiling, she works wonderfully. I also have a Husqvarna that I just call the Husqvarna...cause that's just fun to say anyways.

I call mine Mindy, which is a play on "minty" because it's mint green!

My sewing machine is called "Nettie Spaghetti", nicknamed after the sweet nickname that my Dad called me. He is gone now, but I really LOVED spaghetti when I was small (and still do). He always wanted me to have a newer sewing machine and when he passed away he left me some $$ in his will to get one. I bought a Bernina and it is happy to be with me and I think of his kindness every time I use it.

My machine is a Sovina, which in Hebrew means " go round, please". The machine was originally manufactured in Israel , but today it's moved to the far east. I always loved that story. It's really nice to think you have real names for your machine. Maybe as my machine and I get closer she will get one too...

I never really thought about naming my sewing machine. I had a pick-up truck in high school named Chester. I'll have to think about that one. Maybe Amy {after Amy Butler, remember I'm an Amy Butler-aholic}. My machine is a Bernina activia 130 I got for high scholl graduation in 2000, maybe I'll call her Y2Kira. Just a couple possabilities.

When my Bernina first arrived, I named her Nina, but it never really stuck. So I really need to work on a good name for her. Hummm...

I call my machine 'bargain' because my grandmother bought it for me for $20. It's a Brother and sews like a dream, my grandmother comes over to check that it's still getting a workout every once in a while. She doesn't need to worry though, I take it for a spin almost every day!

Well, to be honest I haven't named my machine. I think it's because I lived with my mother growing up, watching her sew... And she is about as good at naming things as my daughter (whose stuff cat is named "Cat" and dog is named "Dog"). So it never occured to me to name my machine!

My son calls my sewing the room the dungeon, so my machine has to be Marie Antoinette! My Pfaff is treated like royalty!

My sewing machine is just a good old Sears brand... I have not named "her" until now and the first name that popped into my head was -- Grace -- I feel that's all I need to call her...
