Happy New Year

Image via threads of time

I hope everyone had a Very Merry Christmas. I'm going to be taking a little time off, while the husband is home for the holidays and the kids are out of school. I will be back January 4th. So to kick off the New Year we are doing a GIVEAWAY. All you have to do is tell us what you love to sew and what sewing projects you have resolved to do this year. Easy cheesy. Good luck to you. Winner will be announced the 4th. Have a HAPPY NEW YEAR!

All I want for Christmas...

is to live at Gracie Lou's. I am not joking when I tell you this. I could roll around in the bolts of fabric. Tap dance on the hard wood floor. I wouldn't need food because love alone would sustain me. Plus, there's a drinking fountain in back and Papa Kelsey's delivers cookies daily. What more could a girl need? I am seriously in love. I had to share pics of the new place for all of you that are less fortunate and can't come visit. Let me show you some of my favorite parts of the store.

Wide open spaces and the hard wood floor.
Isn't it pratty? See there's enough room to dance around.
Here is cute, sweet grandma in the kids corner. She is the sweetest truly. If she isn't yours or your children's grandma, you will want her to be. Plus, I have never been in a fabric store that my kids love to go to. I can shop and they play and be oh so nice.
There are walls of quilts hanging. Love it! Super duper inspiring.
Shelves and shelves of gorge fabric. I love how they are all set up by designer.
Cute old benches and cupboards filled with goodies. See how everything you could need from one line, patterns, kits, and yardage is all together.
Tons of Izzy and Ivy patterns and samples to look at and feel. Cute dresses, hats, and bags.
Another super cute cupboard.
Wall to wall fabric. Bolts and bolts. Freakin awesome! I couldn't close
my mouth I was so in awe.

See why it is all I want for Christmas. I am so sorry to those of you who can't experience it in person. For those of you that can, it is so worth it. It is worth a days drive. Grab a coke and a friend and the kids and drive. You won't be sorry.

Now for you last minute shoppers you better cruise in and get what you need. Remember all Christmas fabric is 50 percent off. Also, don't forget about the Izzy and Ivy giveaway.

Tutorial Tuesday

With moving, the Holidays and no internet I have been a bit of a slacker.
Thank goodness for Shasta covering my behind.
Like I have previously mentioned life has been a bit crazy. Christmas is a mere 10 days away and I am not quite ready. So for me and you last minuter's, (that's not a word but whateves) here are some great tutorials, to make some dang cute last minute gifts. I love hand made gifts. Specially gifts done with really beautiful fabric.
So here you go, I hope it helps you last minuter's.

I love this checkerboard from Confessions of a Craft Addict. A little more time consuming maybe, but totally worth it.

Lu Bird Baby shows you how to make a fabric flower hair clip. Flowers are in right now. They are super cute in hair, on headbands, or you could embellish a tee with them.

I found a great tutorial for a lined baby sling on Family Centered.

Jess on The Adventures of Rory and Jess has the cutest, seriously, the cutest memory game tutorial. I love it!

Sew Mama Sew has tons and tons of just awesome tutorials. I liked this one, this one, and they have this. The Ultimate Handmade Holidays master list. So cool!
Everything is organized in themes.

Then over at Craft Gossip they had so many tutorials I just didn't know what to do with myself. There is a tutorial for everything. You need to go here and look around. Even if your not looking for a Christmas present go check it out.

Shhh...It's a secret...

I (Shasta), have wanted to start my own little club for quite awhile. It couldn't just be any old club though. I needed it to have a purpose and I really wanted it to be unique. Well, I've found it! It's a secret though, a secret society. Intrigued?

If you want to join my club this is what you need to know:

1. You will give something to the world, but you might not get anything in return. You will have the satisfaction of knowing you're making a difference.
2. There is nothing to buy, unless you don't have what you want.
3. We will meet once a month, don't know when yet. We will start in January.
4. You must keep this club a secret, our secret. (Okay, you can tell three people :o))
5. You will have to think like a child, and maybe even act like one.
6. Gracie Lou's has to be your favorite hangout, or at least the second :o)
7. This has nothing to do with quilting or blankets.
8. This club is a year commitment, please keep that in mind. The time you'll spend is completely up to you.
9. It will be really fun, really rewarding and you'll be really glad you joined!

So what do you do to join? Well, stay tuned for now. I will give you info on our first meeting, I just need to work out some more logistics. What I need you to do is comment if your interested, make sure you leave me your email. Make sure you tell me why you want to join.

We've Moved!

Here at Gracie's we have been b-u-s-y! We just moved into our brand-spankin' new store! It's beautiful, spacious and has a kid corner :o) So come on by and see our new digs and tell us what you think.

We moved next store, same town, same parking lot and same phone number. The only thing difference is that you can do a cartwheel in this store and not lose a limb, YEAH!

In celebration of the new store, how about a giveaway? Leave us your opinion of the new store, if you can't come in cuz you live in Timbuktu, tell us how great it is anyway :o) Winner to receive a fat quarter bundle of Heather Bailey's Nicey Jane (ooh it's gorgeous). We will randomly pick next Monday.
