Hey girls! So Mr. Parry is sleeping soundly, well, not so soundly (snoring actually). It's 8:33 pm here in beautiful Maui, home is three hours later, and I can't sleep. Nothing on the tube, so I thought I would tell you about my vacation. Mr. Parry and I come down here every year the same time, I know it's a really hard thing to do ;o) I love it because the whale season is at it's peak. Have you ever seen one? They are amazing! When I was a little girl, I always said I would become a marine biologist. I have always been completely fascinated by the ocean and it's wonders. Someday, I will learn to dive. Anyway, back to the whales...for some reason the channel between Maui and Lanai is like whale soup. The whales come to Hawaii to give birth and mate, so they are really active and they put on quite the show. No need to even go out on a boat to see them, plenty to see right from your cabana on the beach. Last night there was this one whale jumping and breaching, either he was really happy or super mad. It looked just like this pic above. As I watched I was amazed at how big they are, massive is more the word. They are beautiful, how lucky am I to see them in person? How lucky indeed.
This is Wailea Beach, this is where I am. Pretty isn't it? From it's really powdery sand you can see Molokini, Lanai and another island I can't remember the name of. It's on the dry side of Maui, so not too much rain. It also faces the setting sun, last night's was gorgeous. Did I mention I left my camera in my car? Bummer.
I also wanted to tell you guys about a great book I read while down here it's called The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin. It's a great read, not too self-helpy (is that a word?), very interesting. The thing I liked most about it was learning to become more happy, because most of us are pretty darn happy right? I also read Nicholas Spark's, The Last Song, very good and yes, true to his work made me cry...alot.
So that's what I've been doing this week, what about you? I'd love to hear all about what my blog buddies are up to, so let's have a little giveaway, whatcha workin' on? Winner to receive a fat quarter bundle of either Blush, Oz or Nautical & Nice, your pick :o)

I loved reading about your trip in Hawaii! I am so happy for you and hope you are loving every moment! It has been such a busy week, but I did go in and buy material for my quilt class my friends and I signed up for on the 17th. SEW very excited!! It is a darling quilt and I can't wait to perfect it! ENJOY!!! Love, Lori C.
I worked on and completed a new skirt out of Blush for Karas and finished up the March Bag of the Month. Farrah made from Moda's Rawhide! So cute! It's in the store now, go check it out and sign up for the class!
It's no lying on the beach a Hawaii, but I do what I can!
I am running like a madwoman between baby quilts that have to be finished this month (three!) and trying to sew Valentine's skirts and Valentine's mail pouches for my kids. It's fun, but sort of crazy- too bad I have adult ADD or I could just finish one thing and then move on to the next like the normal people do...
I'm taking two of your classes at the Snow Goose festival in Delta- I'm way excited. Also, I just had a chance to check out your new location last week and it is fabulous! Congratulations!
Wish I was in Hawaii!! You are one lucky girl! I'm finishing up on my red scarfs for the Red Scarf Project. I also bought material to start pillowcases for the "Make a pillowcase, Make a difference" project. I love to sew and it's nice to be able to do quick projects to help others out. Don't get too sunburned.
I am actually headed to Gracie's today to pick up fabric for all of my Bunco prizes. Last time I was in, I bought "One Yard Wonders" and I am picking each prize out of that book. I can't wait to get started on them!
I wish I was there. My family went to Hawaii last year for 10 days. I was just looking at our pictures last night and wishing to be back. I am working on a memory quilt for a friend who lost a 3 month-old to SIDS this last year. Hopefully the quilt won't have too many tear stains on it. Can't wait to come down next week for the grand re-opening:)
I am laying on the couch suffering from a bout of food poisoning. Yuck! We are sewing tomorrow night! Hoping to finish up one of the Izzy n Ivy quilts. Glad you are having a good time!
Hawaii sounds much better than here! I've had strep throat! Blech. The only sewing I've done is repairing one of my preschool students backpacks. He was very happy as he loves his rocket backpack.
You are in Hawaii and want to know what everyone else is doing? I've been putting together a Jelly Roll Sampler Quilt Along.

Not quite Hawaii, but I am looking forward to it!
I'm almost done with a little Valentine dress for JellyBean, I have the top ready for a quilt I'm working on (waiting for sale day to purchase the backing fabric!), and I'm about to start yet another Black Apple Doll. Always a list with me!
HEY, could you please tell us all a little more about your Grand Re-Opening? When is it? What are the deals? Please, do tell!!
I'm jealous-I am very tired of the cold here! Though it does keep me inside and staring at the honey-do projects around the house until I can't stand it any more and just do them!
Just finished two more baby quilts (everyone is having babies!) and am in need of some fabric for my girls valentines gifts (thinking castle pocket quilt for toy princesses to live in...)
I have made a pair of slippers from Favorite Things (very cute!) An Amy Butler make-up bag. And bound 2 quilts!!! Oh and I made a baby quilt. Fun Huh!!!
Carrie
I'm so glad you are having a good time!
Today I am working on five skirts, at once, I may be crazy!
Glad that you are having a great time in Hawaii! I've been busy making hair bows, crocheting baby blankets, and starting a second baby rag quilt. Lots of fun, but not quite as fun as Hawaii. :)
It sounds like you are having a ton of fun, and it is always nice to get some good sleep while you are on vacation! I don't sew very much, but Konda and her sister Ashley are giving me the bug. Plus I love love love the Blush line by basic grey...I don't know maybe it is because I am a scrapbooker? Enjoy!
Wish I was in hawaii!!! But, instead I am sitting at home working on quilts and needed a break so come to check out blogs. The quilts (5 of them) I am working on is piecing together polyester squares that my grandma cut out before she had her stroke- about 15 years ago.
I just visited your store for the first time yesterday! It is so fun! I love just looking (ok, and buying) at the gorgeous fabric selection you have! And the store is so super spacious and clean! I love it!
I am starting a monkey wrench quilt and working on dozens and dozens of baby blankets!
And lucky you to be on Wailea Beach! Enjoy all the pretty sunsets!
I have been taking care of a very sick hubby. I have a quilt I am trying to work on, a skirt I need to work with, and some hairbows. Many, many things to do. I love the material and see that I need another trip to Gracie Lou's.
I'm jealous of your Hawaii trip! This week I've been working on my first ever quilt - a new spring quilt for my bedroom.
http://pitterputterstitch.blogspot.com/2010/02/spring-quilt.html
I'm a little nervous about the quilting part, but I'm trying to get as prepared as possible.
This week I used some scraps to make some toys for The Toy Society (http://thetoysociety.blogspot.com). They aren't quite done yet though!
I have been working on a scrappy nine-patch. Just need to add border! Would love to win your giveaway!
I am working on seasonal pillows as usual..just when I thought I was finished with xmas, then valentines rolls around and then it will be spring etc etc..but I'm having FUN!
This is my first time to your site, love the fabrics I am seeing i have seen your shop a billion times on the way to my sons pre school & i am always wanting to stop but now that i've seen this site I WILL stop by tomorrow!!!
I made a vow to complete what I have started. I have cleaned and organized my sewing room and I have been finishing my uncompleted projects before I am starting anything new. You don't what a high I get everytime I finish a project that had been sitting there. Try finishing something and see how you feel. I am trying to get as much sewing done because I know that spring is coming and it will be time to outside planting and enjoying the great weather. I am trying hard to enjoy the moment.
