K... I will go first... But mine is technically 2 tools... not one (does that count)?
By far, my favorite sewing tool is my clear ruler and rotary cutter... that is what got me sewing and experimenting!
I would have to agree...I love my rotary cutter, it makes life so much easier
I really love my water soluable marker. Is that a tool? I just love drawing on fabric, and then knowing I can squirt it away.
FYI the sidebar link for the online store is taking me to Flickr...
I have to say rotary cutter...I can't imagine quilting without it!
I love my rotary cutter, but my favorite tool is my plexi-glass. I love being able to see what patterns would look like on a quilt, prior to quilting them. Plus, it's green, because I don't kill trees by wasting paper! :D
I love my 1/4 inch rule, the twelve inch clear bar. I do lots of hand piecing so I use it to mark my seam allowance. I have a couple, one in my sewing room and one on my side table in the living room.

My Favorite tool is my sewing machine! i just don't have the patience to sew by hand. So as much as i love my rotary cutter, rulers and mat, the sewing machine wins. Hands down
I love my handy old Ginger shears. I have had them since a was a Junior in high school and their still working great!
My favorite tool is my Clover white marking pen. I use it for marking my applique pieces and anything that still shows when I'm done, I can just iron off! Excellent tool...my fav.
My favorite tool would have to be my seam ripper, only I need a new one, it's wearing out. And I want one of those pens Molly is talking about. How cool is that?
Very Cool! My very fave is my rotary cutter, I don't know how anyone could quilt without one!
Wow it is kinda tough to choose one fav. For me it has to be my rotary cutter.
I love my rotary cutter, and my matt and my clear ruler and my sewing machine. What would I do with out that? My serger is a nice tool as well..
ROTARY CUTTER for sure! And the mat to protect my table. :D
Love my sewing machine!

Gotta agree with others, my clear ruler and rotary cutter are #1! I also love my serger, but dont use it nearly enough.
Definitely my seam ripper. I have sewn so many things upside-down, inside out, backwards, etc., that I would never be able to finish anything without my seam ripper!
I feel like a copy cat, but I agree with the others, I wouldn't be quilting without my rotary cutter, mat and of course my sewing machine.
Hmm.. how can I choose. I guess also my sewing machines. I have 2 in case one breaks down:) What can I say I love to sew and create fun new things!!!
I love my sewing machine for quick piecing - if I lived in the old days and had to piece by hand I don't think I would ever finish a quilt!
My seam ripper, it seems everytime I sew something I end up undoing at least part of it. So I guess you could say I make everything twice. O WELL. its a good thing I love to sew!
Here's a new one for you...my thimble. I love hand quilting and my middle finger would be a wreck if I didn't use that thimble.
I love my tape measure. I seem to need it every time I sew.
I love my lil' brother (sewing machine). We've been through a lot together.
I have more of a love/hate relationship with my seam ripper! lol!
I love the needle threader on my sewing machine, since I have the eyes of a 54 year old and can't see the eye of the needle.
What a fun idea this is. I've been sewing since Jr. High. One tool we had to have in our sewing kit was a seam guage, to this day it is my all time favorite tool. I keep one by my machine, in my to go bag, and on my cutting board. I couldn't sew without my. It may be old school but it sure is handy. And what would I do without my nice Rowenta iron, got to have a nice iron if your going to sew.
Very difficult to choose - I have so many tools I cannot live without! I must say I love my long steel ruler my husband bought me for my birthday last year. It stays on my cutting board and helps with measuring bigger pieces and I use it when I cut with my rotary cutter. It is almost 2 yards long.
PS: You keep TWO blogs going daily? And a family? You are amazing!
I'm quite new into sewing and I just bought myself a megnetic seam guide. This looks like the coolest gadget to me right now :-) Since I haven't used it yet, I'd also write about my special pattern copying pencil. I think it's made out of wax of something similar. You just trace whatever you want on a parchment paper, then turn it over and iron it to your fabric and ta-da: your pattern is on the fabric!
Thanks for the giveaway!
Maya
I think the rotary cutter is the best! But just to shake things up, I love my applique scissors. I use them for much more than applique...so sharp and precise!
I would have to say my darling pin cushion/drink holder ( haha) that lola so kindly made me. OOO and may handy little felt wallet for pins, scissors, thread ect... that Lola also made me. THANKS LOLA!!!
Hi! My favorite tool is my rotary cutter and my olfa cutting mat, which is pretty worn out by now. I wish i could buy these things here in Paraguay, because i have to get my tools sent here from Canada.
I agree it has to be my clear ruler. I have the one that grips a little better to the fabric so it doesn't slide as easily. I also love my quilting foot for my machine.

I am not a quilter, but I have to say that discovering that my mother-in-law had bought me a rotary cutter (I had just put it away not knowing how to use it) really saved my sanity last Christmas when I made 6 beanbags for gifts. So, right now I have to say my rotary cutter is my fave.
Of course my favorite tool is my sewing machine! I once asked my husband if the house would catch fire what would be the first material thing I would grab and he immediately said "Your sewing machine!" He knows me so well! Also my acrylic rulers….I couldn't function without those to easily!
I would have to say my favorite thing is my snippers that I hang around my neck with a string. I am constantly misplacing them thus the string.
I have just gotten hooked on tailors chalk. Its great for quilting too!
I'm a fan of a lot of the items mentioned above - machine, rotary cutter, etc., but my favorite tool not mentioned is Prismacolor colored pencils. I use these when I'm tracing pieces and cutting stuff out by hand for hand piecing. I have a ton of colors so I can usually find one that will show up on just about any fabric I use.
My rotary cutter is my fave! (I hope I'm not duplicating as I rec'd an error message)
My favorite tool is pretty standard - an iron! I love the feeling of pressing open seems and seeing how crisp they look when everything is done!
My sister has been telling me all about your little Quilt Shop and I was so jealous that I didn't have one in my town. But I just found a similar shop yesterday. Now I can get super cute fabric to make all your fun stuff. Anyway, now on to my favorite tool. Since I am kind of an organization freak I would have to say my Blue Feather BobbinSaver. You can put tons of bobbins in there and they won't unravel or tangle. I love having all my bobbins full of thread so I don't have to rewind them everytime I sew. This tool helps keep them organized. Hooray!
I don't have many tools - just the basics - as I'm a beginner but I do love my rotarty cutter.
I'm in the hate part of a love/hate relationship with my sewing machine right now or it would win hands down:)
I really like my pin cushion :)
I do love all the things mentioned, but one of my newest discoveries that I love is the prewound bobbins. They save me so much time (and frustration when my bobbin thread runs out constantly). They last a really long time! Linda
Okay, I'm new to the whole appreciation for tools thing, but I absolutely love my Thin Blue Line water erasable marker...great for my Hawaiian hand quilting..is a marker a tool? Geez Louise, I sure hope so. If not, here's one more...my rotary cutter. If it wasn't so sharp I'd marry it! hehe!
I agree that the rotary cutter, matt, rulers, and machine are wonderful tools BUT...I love the "Side Winder". It is a small unit that winds bobbins without using the machine. A full bobbin can't be beat!
I would have to say my no slide ruler that you fabulous people convinced me to buy! I LOVE IT!!!!
I LOVE my Accuquilt GO for cutting my fabric easily!!!!
I LOVE my Accuquilt GO cutter, its really neat for cutting fabric!!
Though I could do anything without my sewing machine, rotary cutter and mat as I get older (better he he he) I have come to appreciate my automatic threaders the most!
Rotary cutter along with rulers ---tools I could not live without. Love, Love them !
RoTaRy CuTtEr!
I love to make clothes for my adorable girls and couldn't do it without my SCISSORS!! I have a pair of spring loaded fiskars that are awesome.
I AM Ellisescissorhands cause I love scissors! When I was just a littlebitty girl, my sweet grandma would let me look inside her enormous sewing hassock and even take out her scissors..she knew I would be extremely careful and not ever ever cut anything I shouldn't! I smuggle scissors everywhere I go. They are the alpha and the omega of my creativity!
I am coveting everyone that has a rotary cutter...lame I know that I don't have one yet (key word). My favorite tool is my sewing machine.

My favorite is the blue ruler that you can draw a line down the middle and sew 1/4 inch away from the seam. I don't know what it is called, but I use it all the time for a straight edge.
I also can't live without my rotary cutter but I love any new toy that comes into my house :)
I have to say my PIN CUSHION- I could not live without it!! :) I tried for a while, but pins in the feet just aren't a good option. So I made a darling pin cushion from some of your Mary Englebrite material- so precious and SO perfectly useful. I'd never make it through a project without it :)
My favorite tool is unique. It just happens to be the broken end of one of my rulers that I either kneeled or stepped on to break. Although I'm sure one could purchase something much more professional, this little piece of plastic is great. In fact I panic when I can't find it right away. It's the perfect size to measure and make quick little cuts.
